"Romantic Getaway"

November 2013

5 acres (2 hectares) on the banks of the Murray River. Whisper quiet other than the birds it is only a 50 minute drive from Perth city. Operated by a delightful couple with international chef experience they present the property and accommodation beautifully. Enjoy dinner on your balcony orin your room. Each course prearranged is delivered by golf cart to you. Champagne and canapes, nibbles call them what you like arrived pre dinner at 6.00pm and the table was set A beautiful evening and outstanding meal. The lemon brulee I ordered was first class. I like that I was able to discuss the menu a couple of days before so we could enjoy what we wanted... a great idea. Overall a lovely getaway.

"Perfect Get Away"

November 2013

After we we're give red balloon vouchers as a present, my boyfriend and I decided to use it for a short get away as we were both in desperate need of a break.

As we didn't want to go to far from Perth when we saw Lazy River retreat it sounded perfect. Our 2 night stay was amazing. Liz and Steve were very welcoming along with their 2 beautiful dogs. We loved the breakfast hamper and thought it was such a great idea. Along with the chocolates Liz would leave on your pillow.

After having Steve Cook dinner for us on the 2nd night we really regret not having dinner the 1st night as it was amazing. There is no where to eat in Pinjarra that is to Steve's standard. Keep up the good work :)

Having activities available was also fantastic and we loved the peace and quiet whilst Kayaking down the river.

Even after 2 nights we left feeling very happy and relaxed.

Thank u Steve and Liz, you have definitely made something special and we can't wait to come again.

Highly Recommended!

"Great setting for our company retreat"

November 2013

We picked Lazy River for a company retreat, to brainstorm idea's for our company. This turned out to be a great decision, as it was very peaceful with lovely scenery and great hosts. We used the communal living area for meetings (as it was during the week) which had a big table and coffee/tea facilities. Steve makes fantastic dinners and Liz thinks of everything for the comfort of the guests, including choccie's on the pillows! The rooms are VERY nice. We also took a quick trip to Mandurah, which is close by. Would definitely recommend Lazy River for a small company retreat or just a relaxing holiday.

"Unbelievable food."

October 2013

What a beautiful setting and rooms. Everything was made of wood and was so rich with African decor. We were stuck inside for the weekend due to rain but we didn't mind. We just opened the blinds and watched the horses and the birds and relaxed.

I was hesitant to try the steak because of a medical condition but after sampling the salmon, I gave it a go: best steak I have ever had in my life.

We will definitely be going back for a second sampling.

"Lovely, peaceful night away with excellent food"

October 2013

My partner and I needed to get out of Perth for a night and booked Lazy River based on previous great reviews here, all of which we agree with!

The setting, though very close still to Mandurah and the freeway, is totally peaceful and rural, with horses grazing in the fields opposite the rooms and loads of birds and those crazy guinea fowl everywhere! It was nice to have a range of activities on site that we could do, and on a sunny day there are loads of prime picnic/lazing about spots, and having a little kayak trip down the lazy river was a highlight for us too.

The rooms are fairly simple and small but cosy and have everything you need, including a lovely spa bath, and the communal areas are a good bonus, it would definitely be fun to come back with family or friends.

Steve's food is as promised - we ate far too much but couldn't stop - had to try everything! The 3 course meal was totally worth it, but even the canapes that come with the room are brilliant, and we enjoyed meeting Sue and Liz when they come to deliver the treats each time :)

Only one small critisism - fly screens could be useful as letting the fresh air in also let in a lot of mossies! Though bug spray and citronella candles are provided...

Back in Perth and feeling super relaxed, wish we could have stayed longer...

"Family reunion"

September 2013

After visiting as a couple we chose Lazy River as the place to celebrate some big family birthdays. We booked three rooms for 3 couples and we had a great weekend. As usual, Liz and Steve made us all feel really welcome and both nights put on great canapes with our complimentary sparkling wine. For the second night Steve cooked us a wonderful birthday dinner, and the food was his usual high standard. Everyone loved the meal and we all walked away from the table very full and very satisfied. The great thing about choosing Lazy River for a group visit is that there is a large dining/lounge room between the suites for use. We spent our afternoon in the rain here playing cards, and spent our evenings together here in this lovely room.

We can't forget our two paddles on the river, which is always a highlight of staying here.

"Oasis of tranquility and relaxation with delicious home cooked food"

July 2013

We stayed for one night for our tenth wedding anniversary and it was absolute bliss.

We arrived on saturday afternoon and immediately felt the air of relaxation. Spotless, well appointed cabin with deck looking at the paddock. A fruit bowl, home made cake and biscuits await along with the largest selection of tea I've ever seen supplied ... plus coffee of course.

The bathroom was indeed like a spa with a double spa bath plus double vanity and large corner shower, the smell of the natural olive soap company room diffuser was just gorgeous.

Next door is a large communal lounge for use by the four rooms, with board games, library, large tv, sofas and large dining table. There is also a pergola with large circular table and pizza oven for summer gatherings. Maybe bring family and use all four rooms then have dinner together ... Might see if i can arrange this for our family!

We took a walk through the grounds, around the tennis court and horse paddock down to the river. The grouse were amusing as they panic and scatter at our approach. We both commented on how peaceful and relaxing it is.

Around 5:45 Liz and Steve arrive on the golf buggy with a platter of home made canapés and a bottle of local bubbly... Both delicious. Also set the table for dinner and turn down the bed - touches including linen napkins, candle, roses and chocolate on the pillow show their care and attention.

We pre arranged the 3 course meal, and must say it was better (and cost less) than Rockpool! Absolutely delicious and all home made from local produce.

We were absolutely full but have home made quiche, poached pears, yoghurts, meat, cheese and orange juice in the fridge. Liz also delivered a basket of fresh croissants, raisin bread, cereal, muesli and condiments for our hearty breakfast.

A very comfortable and cosy nights sleep in the luxurious linen on the rose wood four poster bed (all the way from kenya).

Happy birthday Liz and thank you both for a lovely weekend break.

Recommend to all and will return.

"The Perfect Retreat"

May 2013
My husband and I stayed here for our "mini" honeymoon. It was our third stay and we are convinced Lazy River can never disappoint! Beautiful location, exceptionally clean rooms, lovely food (and lots of it!), a comfortable bed, and overall, simply just a perfect place to stay. The hosts Liz and Steve are absolutely lovely people and their hospitality and attention to detail are unsurpassed. We will be back again!

"Can't wait to go back!"

April 2013
Fantastic night away! Couldn't have wished for a more relaxing and romantic break away from home. Steve and Liz made us feel so so welcome and were the perfect hosts. The food and 'room service' were amazing. The home made canapes were divine, as was the three course meal, all freshly prepared and served by Steve (with his infectious laugh) and Liz, arriving at the lodge at our chosen time, on the golf buggy, to lay a table on the terrace and serve each course as and when, bubbly included and candle light too! 5 star service all the way...a dream B and B. The gourmet breakfast hamper left us feeling sufficiently full and spolit for the rest of the day! I can't wait to return back to Lazy River, maybe next time the weather will be better and we may venture out of our room to try out the kayaks and tennis courts. thank you Steve and Liz for making it an anniversary to remember x

"Beautiful getaway from Perth"

April 2013
This place was amazing and the hosts were friendly and sociable. Beautiful setting, food and decor. Would recommend this place to anyone. The hosts were lovely, I could have stayed the whole day chatting to them. The little extra touches that the hosts made, made the stay even lovelier. Definitely "the loose box" for South of the river.

"Perfect weekend getaway”

13 September 2012
We found Lazy River to be a fantastic weekend retreat. Rooms are divine, gorgeous scenery, peace and quiet, SO much food, and plenty to see and do. Situated right next to the Murray River, the B&B provide kayaks to enjoy, as well as bicycles, tennis courts and racquets, putting golf, croquet, board games, books... You could easily idle the time away at the accommodation. However, a 10min drive will take you into the heart of Mandurah where there's plenty more to see and do. Liz and Steve were lovely, and made some excellent meals. Highly recommend!

"Fantastic Family holiday"

27 July 2012
We recently stayed at lazy river when my partners parents visited from overseas, as there were around eight of us we were able to have the accommodation to ourselves for the weekend, giving us the opportunity to utilize the amazing shared dinner room for family meals. On arrival we were greeted by Steve and Liz our warm and friendly hosts for the weekend, who gave us a quick tour followed by an amazing three course meal including some mushroom soup, fresh salmon, and crepe suzette, not to mention some delicious starters! Along with some fantastic local champagne.

Waking up the first day you are greeted with a lovely sunrise, from your deck you can see the horses getting fed and the small flock of guine fowl clucking around the property, along with max the dog who likes to steal some scratches, the morning included a large selection continental breakfast that ranged from cereals, quiche, muffins, croissants with German bacon, and poached pears!

During the day we were able to take a canoe and explore the Murray river, along with sampling some of the local food and wine at different places in Pinjarra, We finished up the afternoon with a few beers, some rounds of croquet and a hit of golf.

The Saturday night we had a fresh asparagus soup followed by a mouthwatering lamb stew and homemade birthday cake! The morning included another quick canoe and a big cooked breakfast.

Steve and Liz are amazing hosts and worked very hard to accommodate our needs and also provide the personalized service they excel at, whether it be the timing of dinner or how enjoy your eggs they have it worked out. And its great to see your food delivered fresh from the kitchen to your table by golf buggy! Steve has amazing talent in the kitchen and his food is something truly special, fresh, and personal.

"Another amazing relax and unwind at Lazy River”

18 May 2012
Our third over night stay and again it was supurb. The property has grown so much and is so lush and green - quite simply it's "picture perfect!" Steve & Liz are the perferct hosts and it was a delight to catch up with them again. Our room was faultless and every attention to detail was looked after...right down to the turning down of our beds and a little surprise choc left on our pillows. Oh the beds are glorious and the bedding divine, you will sleep like your on a cloud. Steve's menu is to die for. Platter of mixed starters that included - mushroom tarts, prawns, tapanade and small bruschetta..Entree: Mushroom soup, Main: Lamb chops with the best vegies and white onion sauce and Dessert: Creme Brulee...so divine you will think you are at a 5 star restaurant. Relaxed, spoilt and taken care of is how I explain Lazy River, can't wait to visit again.

"Ideal Getaway!”

18 Dec 2010
We were amazed at how quick the trip was, just 42 minutes down the new freeway to within 4 minutes of Lazy River's total seclusion, and its rural peace and quiet. Superb hospitality.

"Perfect Getaway!”

This is a perfect retreat from the city life. The room makes you feel right at home and you have got to try the food. It was delicious. I would definitely go back again.

"Wonderful place, great food, fantastic hosts -perfect relaxing stay!”

16 Nov 2010
Set in a beautiful spot on the Murray River we enjoyed sitting on the verandah and admiring the bush setting in a very tranquil environment. Steve and Liz were wonderful hosts taking care of our every need. Steve's food is delicious, the canapes were enough for a meal alone and being able to dine in our cottage by candlelight was a real highlight. Their website pretty much says it all - "unashamed luxury".

- genki3

“Spectacular food at this rural retreat with hosts who care."

20 Oct 2010
Well yes, all is true. Hosts Steve and Liz excel in the hospitality game. We arrived at Lazy River to enjoy a fine afternoon tea on the verhanda whilst watching the horses graze and a variety of birds feasting. The air is clean and sweet with a brackish tinge from the Murray River which flows nearby. Liz suggested the afternoon would be perfect to take out the kayaks and we spent a couple of hours paddling in the Murray, truly peaceful and awarded us the luxury breathing slowly and deeply.

Feeling pretty refreshed we opted for a quick game of tennis before returning to the cottage for a quick spa. Steve and Liz arrived at 6 pm with a fantastic array of canapes, all local produce fine tuned by Steves gourmet abilities and a bottle of bubbles from local Skipworth Winery. A gourmet breakfast hamper is also provided lavishly stocked with tasty treats to see you well into the next day. Additionally a fruit bowl is provided on arrival.

An hour or so later Steve & Liz are back and serve a three course meal. The meal option can be organised prior to arrival and the exceptional standard reflects the Swiss training Steve has received.

Lazy River exceeds in all areas of hospitality. Thank you both for a wonderful gourmet experience and also your generous and warm company. See you again in the near future.

TIP: The Skipworth Wine Company is located just south of Lazy River in Yarloop. Well worth a visit for tastings and cellar sales. Owner Kim Skipworth also offers free delivery to Perth Metro area once a week and has some great wines at excellent prices. Wonderful opportunity to support the smaller boutique wine industry!
